Clearances Restored To Print
Wear ring and running clearances are measured and brought back to specification, recovering the efficiency that open clearances silently consume.
To put pumps and valves into service that match the duty they will actually see, documented with test records that give operators evidence rather than reassurance.
Who We Are
Pro Liquid manufactures, supplies and services industrial pumps and valves for water, process and heavy duty applications. On the pump side we cover end suction and split case centrifugals, multistage, vertical turbine, submersible, slurry, sanitary and positive displacement types including gear, progressive cavity, diaphragm and peristaltic. On the valve side we supply and build gate, globe, ball, butterfly, check and control valves with pneumatic, electric and hydraulic actuation. Our shop machines wear parts, balances impellers, fits and aligns mechanical seals, and performs hydrostatic and seat leakage testing with documented results.
What brings plants around to Pro Liquid is selection discipline. A pump that was correct for a system twenty years ago is often running far from its best efficiency point today, because piping, demand and controls have all changed. We measure or calculate the current system curve, confirm available suction head against required net positive suction head, and recommend trimming, replacing or controlling the unit accordingly. The same discipline applies to valves, where body material, trim selection, pressure class and actuator sizing have to match the service rather than simply fitting the flange.
Our Mission
To put pumps and valves into service that match the duty they will actually see, documented with test records that give operators evidence rather than reassurance.
Our Advantages
Wear ring and running clearances are measured and brought back to specification, recovering the efficiency that open clearances silently consume.
Rebuilt pumps run against the original curve on our test loop, so shortfalls are found in our shop rather than during your commissioning.
Body, trim and elastomer selection follows the actual service conditions, including solids and temperature, not just the line size on the drawing.
Hydrostatic shell and seat leakage testing to recognized acceptance criteria, with certificates issued, so shutoff performance is proven rather than claimed.
Returned seals are examined and the piping plan reviewed. Repeat failures almost always point at flush, suction conditions or alignment rather than the seal itself.
We calculate or measure the current system curve before recommending a pump, because systems change far more often than the pumps serving them.
Selection and rebuild decisions start from the measured system curve, because most pumps run far from their best efficiency point and nobody noticed.
Wear ring, impeller and shaft clearances are measured and restored to drawing tolerance, since a cleaned and reassembled pump is not a rebuilt one.
Wetted material selection is justified against fluid chemistry, solids content and temperature, which is where most premature pump wear originates.
From Our Desk

Differential pressure, stroke time, failure position and supply pressure all matter. Why catalog-default actuator sizing leads to valves that stall under load.

Heat checking, grooving and chipping each point at a different cause. A visual guide to reading returned seals before ordering a replacement.

Cavitation is an arithmetic problem before it is a mechanical one. Calculating available head, comparing it to pump requirement and fixing the margin.

Operating far from best efficiency drives vibration, seal failures and bearing loads. How to recognize it from field readings and what to do about it.
Client Feedback
They measured our system instead of reading the old nameplates. Trimming two impellers cost far less than the new pumps we had budgeted, and the vibration problems disappeared.
The valve certificates arrived with the valves, properly filled out. Our quality auditor had no questions, which has not always been our experience with valve suppliers.
Our seal failures were a flush problem, not a seal problem. They fixed the piping plan and the pumps have run cleanly since.
Ask Pro Liquid for a duty point assessment. We will measure or calculate your system curve and show where the pump is actually operating.
Every valve we build or rebuild is hydrostatically shell tested and seat leakage tested to recognized acceptance criteria, with certificates issued, because a valve that will not shut off is worse than no valve at all.
Our Services

Hydrostatic shell testing, seat leakage testing, pump performance testing against published curves, and material traceability documentation. For regulated and utility customers we assemble the full data package, including test records, material certificates and as-built dimensional information.

Service and supply of gear, lobe, progressive cavity, diaphragm, screw and peristaltic pumps, including rotor and stator replacement, timing adjustment, relief valve setting and elastomer selection for the fluid. Positive displacement units need protection from closed discharge, so we review the relief arrangement as part of every job.

On-site pump removal, installation, alignment and commissioning, valve repair in line where practical, and emergency response for failed critical units. We maintain records of the equipment we service, so when a call comes in at night the configuration and parts history are already on file.

Teardown, wear part replacement, shaft and sleeve inspection, impeller repair or replacement, dynamic balancing, mechanical seal fitting and performance testing against the original curve. Running clearances are restored to print, because open clearances quietly rob efficiency long before the pump makes enough noise to attract attention.

Assembly and build-to-order supply of gate, globe, ball, butterfly, check and control valves with correct body material, trim, pressure class and end connection for the service. Every valve is hydrostatically shell tested and seat leakage tested to recognized acceptance criteria, and certificates are issued with the delivery.

In-shop and on-site valve repair including lapping and reseating, packing and gasket replacement, trim change-out, and retrofitting of pneumatic, electric and hydraulic actuators with limit switches and positioners. We size actuators for the real differential pressure rather than the convenient catalog figure.

Seal selection by fluid, temperature, pressure and solids content, with face material combinations and the appropriate piping plan for flush, quench or barrier fluid. Failure analysis of returned seals identifies dry running, cavitation, misalignment and flush problems so the next seal does not follow the last one.

Calculation of the system curve from static head, pipe friction and fitting losses, verification of available net positive suction head against pump requirement, and selection for operation near best efficiency across the real duty range. We flag applications where a variable speed drive or a trimmed impeller solves the problem more cheaply than a new pump.

On systems with genuine flow variation and significant friction head, often substantially. On systems dominated by static head with little flow variation, savings can be modest. We assess the system curve and operating profile before recommending it, rather than assuming.
Hydrostatic shell testing and seat leakage testing to recognized acceptance criteria, with certificates issued at delivery. For specific industry or utility requirements we can extend the documentation package to include material certificates and dimensional records.
Often yes, and it can restore both performance and efficiency if the casing is sound. We measure wear ring clearances, shaft condition and impeller profile first. Where the hydraulic selection itself is wrong for the current system, a rebuild would recreate the problem, and we will say so.
From the real differential pressure across the seat, the required stroke time, available air or power supply, failure position and any safety function. Actuators sized from a convenient catalog assumption are a common cause of valves that stall part way under process conditions.
Seals are usually the victim. Dry running, inadequate or fouled flush, cavitation, vibration from operating off curve, and shaft misalignment all destroy seals quickly. We examine the failed faces and review the piping plan, because fitting the same seal again just schedules the next failure.
Possibly, but cavitation and open running clearances produce similar symptoms. Cavitation points at suction conditions and insufficient net positive suction head; worn clearances point at internal recirculation. We measure suction pressure and internal clearances to tell them apart before quoting parts.
Ask Pro Liquid for a duty point assessment. We will measure or calculate your system curve and show where the pump is actually operating.
Mechanical seals fail for reasons: dry running, poor flush, cavitation, misalignment or an unsuitable face combination. We analyze the failure and correct the piping plan rather than fitting the same seal again.
Projects & Case Studies

Measured system conditions showed the installed pumps running well right of best efficiency after years of network changes. Trimmed impellers on two units and variable speed control on a third brought operation back onto curve and cut seal and bearing failures.

A plant losing seals repeatedly on hot service pumps had an inadequate flush arrangement. Revised piping plans, correct face combinations and quench provision were implemented, and documented seal failures dropped sharply over the following year.

Repeat short wear life on a mineral slurry duty was addressed by changing liner and impeller material, correcting suction piping that was generating uneven flow, and adjusting operating speed. Interval between change-outs lengthened substantially.

A batch of control valves was built with trim and body materials selected for the service, actuators sized on real differential pressure, and positioners configured. Each valve shipped with hydrostatic and seat leakage certificates for the plant quality file.
